Harmony Corridor PlanThe plan amendment would update and clarify the original 1991 Harmony Corridor Plan regarding the crucial I-25 interchange area. The original plan identifies the need for additional work on a strategy for gravel pit reclamation and use of the low-lying land and open water. Recent annexation and development activity along I-25 in the north Front Range region add to the need for the amendment.
“This is a big change from the past thinking about what could be done with this area”, says Clark Mapes, City Planner and Project Manager. “The whole concept of the interstate highway has been changing and there’s also been a lot of study done about reclaiming the gravel ponds as amenities, and reducing the potential for flooding across Harmony Road. An open house for this amendment was held on November 14, 2007. Public comment is welcomed. This proposed plan amendment will require the approval of the Planning and Zoning Board and City Council. The update process is scheduled to start in January 2008 with a tentative completion date in the fall. The City staff team is in the process of retaining consultants to assist with this effort. The first step is to contact area property owners and meet to discuss issues and ideas for refinement of the Plan since it was adopted in 1999. Contact: Project Manager Pete Wray 970-221-6754 |
