Commuter Bicycle CoachCommuter Bicycle Coach is a new program provided by the City of Fort Collins SmartTripsTM office. It's designed to encourage and educate business employees about the fun, the freedom, the ease and the benefits of commuting by bicycle.

How does it work?
It's easy! An individual agrees to become the Commuter Bicycle Coach within an organization. He or she works to identify and recruit individuals within the organization to ride a bike to work one day a week (on average) instead of driving a vehicle. The SmartTripsTM office helps by providing guidance, information and workshops, along with fun incentives for riding.

In essence, the Commuter Bicycle Coach motivates and recruits additional riders, who in turn recruit others, and so on.

Who Can Be A Commuter Bicycle Coach?
Anyone who can ride a bicycle! You don't have to be a long-time rider to become a Commuter Bicycle Coach. If you've ever been on a bike, you already know the exhilarating feeling that comes from riding. Encouraging others to try bicycle commuting is the Coach's true role.

How Does the SmartTripsTM Office Help?
We provide the Coach with a complete kit of information and incentives to help motivate his or her co-workers. The Coach doesn't have to be a bicycle pro, because we have all the resources to answer any bicycle or commuting question. We'll also provide workshops and promotional materials focused on the fun and freedom of riding. We're here as complete support in whatever way we can help.

An important component of Commuter Bicycle Coach is its education. SmartTripsTM staff will work with the Coach to inform prospective riders about bicycle safety, clothing, maintenance and other topics that help people become riders.

What Does it Cost?
Commuter Bicycle Coach is sponsored by the City of Fort Collins SmartTripsTMoffice, so it doesn't cost you a thing. Our hope is that enough people will want to become coaches and riders that our entire community will see a return on the investment.
