About Us

In Fort Collins, community planning is about balancing development with open space to ensure that as our community grows, it remains a comfortable, healthy, attractive place to live or visit.

Advance Planning - is a department of 4 offices: Long Range Planning prepares neighborhood and strategic area plans; affordable housing manages CDBG/HOME funds and developes housing, historic preservation, and the Urban Renewal Authority.
Neighborhood and Building Services - issues permits and conducts inspections
Current Planning - reviews and evaluates all annexations, re-zonings and development proposals

We work closely with other City departments who are responsible for Transportation Planning, Parks Planning and Stormwater Planning.
