Built in 1995, the 40,000 square-foot facility has an energy-efficient lighting design. Daylighting techniques allow areas of the two-story building to rely completely on natural light during the day. Based on a comparison with a conventional design, the design saves an estimated 24 percent on total energy costs, according to Steve Steinbicker, project architect for the facility. Fort Collins Utilities provided expertise and funding to help support the energy modeling and daylighting analysis for the building through the Integrated Design Assistance Program. Design Team:
