Electronic Literacy Classes Clases de computación en español
The Fort Collins Regional Library District offers several free computer classes, to the public, to promote information literacy. The classes cover computer basics, electronic communication, the Library website, Internet searching, and Microsoft Office. Handouts for each class are available by clicking on the links (e.g. Word handout) in each section.

Handouts are particularly valuable for patrons who have missed out on a place in a particular course, as well as for patrons wishing to refresh their memory, of skills learned in class.

Spring 2009 computer classes

Classes are 1.5 hours in length unless specified otherwise.
Microsoft Office classes - Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher - Classes use version 2003.
Microsoft Office classes are 3-parts: 1.5 hrs per session

If you have a confirmed place in a class, please be on-time or your place may be given up to others waiting

All classes require you to either have undertaken the "Computer Comfort" class or have a basic understanding of using the computer and the mouse

Computer Comfort

This class offers beginning and hands-on training on the basic components of computers, using the keyboard and the mouse, navigating in Windows, and beginning Internet browsing. Registration REQUIRED. Call 221-6380 or 204-8206 to register, or register in person at library Adult Reference Desks.

Windows Basics & File Management

Internet Searching

Tired of wandering through thousands of sites every time you surf the Web? Let the pros teach you how to use subject directories and search engines to search more easily and effectively. Computer Comfort class is strongly recommended before taking this class if you are new to computers. Registration REQUIRED. E-mail (2 part class - sign up for either part)

In this two-part class you will sign up for a free Internet e-mail account using Yahoo!, and then learn how to check your e-mail, send messages, and reply to messages. In the second class you will learn about sending and downloading attachments, working with folders, saving drafts, and using the address book. Computer Comfort class is strongly recommended before taking this class if you are new to computers. Free and open to the public. You MUST have an active Yahoo! email account to attend the advanced (2nd part) class. Registration REQUIRED.
