Discover Gateway Natural Area, a mountain lover's paradise only 15 miles from Fort Collins! Gateway is tucked away from the noise of Highway 14 and it boasts several recreational opportunities including the Black Powder Trail (3/4 mile), the Overlook Trail (1/4 mile), and a designated launching area for kayaks and canoes. Fishing, picnic tables with grills, informational signs and kiosks are also on-site for visitors to enjoy. A 100-person capacity shelter is available on a first-come, first serve basis or can also be reserved for your family reunion, picnic, or special event.

Gateway Natural Area is located at 5216 Poudre Canyon Highway (Hwy 14) or 5.2 miles west of Ted's Place. Gateway Natural Area is the site of the city's old water filtration plant, where the North Fork of the Poudre River joins the main Poudre River.

Parking at Gateway is $5 per vehicle, and $10 per vehicle occupied with 8 or more persons. Annual passes valid one year from date of purchase are available. Parking is free in December, January, and February. Gateway is open from dawn to dusk daily. Pets are allowed if on leash. There is no camping and no overnight parking.
