Welcome to e-recreation news! This monthly newsletter will highlight important happenings within the City of Fort Collins Recreation Division. The second in the Tribute Series 2007 take place on Sunday, September 2 and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and will feature Brad Fitch and his band performing the songs of John Denver. Fitch has performed for many years and has released several CD’s of his original music, but he especially enjoys John Denver’s music because his audiences are so familiar with the lyrics. Swing dance your night away at Club Tico on Saturday, September 8! Join us for an evening of live music, lessons and swing dancing! The Club Tico 1940’s swing dance is from 8:00-10:30 p.m. Swing by for a lesson before the dance at 7:30! Tickets are $10; for more information, call the Senior Center at 221-6645.
Come spend a day together as a family at the Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, on Sunday, September 9 from Noon – 4 p.m. Grandchildren and grandparents can share an opportunity to see, pet and talk to the animals at the petting zoo. The fee of $3 includes lunch, bingo, cupcake walks, fishing pond with prizes, swimming, basketball, badminton, table tennis, jumping gym, a slide for unlimited fun, and much more! This 12th annual event on Saturday, September 15 will feature former mayors who are buried at Grandview Cemetery. Actors will portray William Bevington, Frederick Baker, Dr. Thomas Bennett, Nancy Gray, Sam Clemmer, Dr. Peter McHugh and Benjamin Whedbee. “Meet” these interesting people and take in the beauty of Grandview Cemetery and its beautiful landscape. Join us for one of our two sessions at 10:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $6; purchase tickets in advance at the Senior Center or at Grandview the day of the event. Come enjoy a crisp fall day with a wonderful community festival! Join us at the Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, on Sunday, September 23 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for live local music, food and a chili cook-off! If you think your chili recipe is up to the challenge, take on fellow festival goers in a judged contest! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 7-17 and ages 6 and under are free.
