Household and Business Wastes

Do NOT dispose of these wastes into the wastewater or storm drain systems:

• Antifreeze
• Motor oil
• Paint thinner and other solvents
• Oil-based paints (in any quantity, including clean-up waste)
• Latex-based paints (Water from cleaning brushes and rollers can go down the drain. Leftover paint should not be poured down the drain.)
• Pesticides
• Herbicides
• Photographic fixer solutions from a home darkroom
• Mercury from broken thermometers or other sources

Contact the Larimer County Household Hazardous Waste Program about disposing household wastes or the City of Fort Collins Department of Natural Resources for additional recycling information.

Businesses and industries have to meet additional restrictions for waste disposal. Some businesses are required to have discharge permits and to pretreat their wastewater to ensure it does not interfere with the wastewater treatment processes.
