Description

A Hero's Welcome, located on the trail west of the South Transit Center, is a procession of three sculptures that offer a warm neighborhood welcome to trail users. Colorful figures, ornamented in mosaic tiles, lean out of three-dimensional metal windows to wave and offer flowers to the passersby. At night, the windows are softly illuminated by lights that make the figures appear to float above the path. These sculptural elements are supported by tall concrete columns covered with ceramic tiles created by children from Beattie and Lopez Elementary schools.
