Description

My design is titled “Bird Songs” and shows a selection of birds indigenous to the Fort Collins area whimsically depicted in an outdoor setting. The birds are shown singing by way of cartoon speech bubbles coming from their open beaks. These bubbles are filled with music notes and/or lyrics from songs that feature the bird that is singing (such as a red-winged blackbird singing a line from The Beatles’ Blackbird). The musical notation will be a close approximation to the actual call of each bird so that those who are lucky enough to be able to read music can play the birds’ songs for themselves. Many thanks to Miguel & Faith Halverson-Ramos for transcribing the birds' calls for this project!
