Description

Climbing high mountains and walking thousands of miles on trails have graced me with a deep passion for the natural world. My experience in the outdoors fuels my imagination and creativity. I use formal devices, such as strong colors and simplified forms to convey the weightiness and grounded-ness of my subjects. This creates a tension with the two dimensionality of the picture plane. I capture the essence of a scene through intentional mark-making, shapes, color palette, scale, and composition. The work of early American landscape painters has also influenced my style.
