Clinical studies have shown that mindfulness can decrease anxiety, stress, and worry. This 6-week course, based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction curriculum, supports our natural ability to connect with the present moment. Learn how cultivating the practice of mindfulness can lead to a more joyful, meaningful, and beneficial life. Mindfulness can help to clarify your values and purpose and help you live with a greater sense of belonging and connection. Join the journey to resilience and strengthen your ability to cope with short- and long-term stress.
The course includes instruction on mindfulness practices, including body scan, sitting meditation, walking meditation, and mindful movement – including yoga and QiGong, as well as guided meditation recordings to support home practice.
Over the course of 6 weeks the following topics will be covered:
All interested program participants must attend the free orientation session on Jan. 12 from 1 – 2 p.m., or if unable to attend, please alert The Gardens staff, and the teacher will contact you directly. Since this is a bigger time and financial commitment, it’s important for everyone to know what is involved and what is expected of participation.
Tai Chi in The Gardens
Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese system of body movement that has been cherished over the centuries for its beneficial impact on health of the heart, bones, nerves, muscles, immune system and the mind. Often referred to as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi is widely practiced around the world, preferably in a beautiful outdoor setting.
The Gardens on Spring Creek is delighted to collaborate with John Broderick, student of Min Fan, to offer our members and community this special outdoor class, suitable for all levels.
Note for Participants: Classes are taught outside and shade is available but limited. Please check the weather and plan accordingly for your comfort and safety during the practice.
Classes will be capped at 25 participants. Please check in through the main entrance. Class registration includes Gardens admission. Click the date to register for that class.
