A Fort Collins school teacher is facing sexual assault charges and Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) is asking for any possible additional victims to come forward.

In April 2024, staff from Poudre School District (PSD) reported to police there were accusations one of their teachers inappropriately touched students on different occasions. The accused teacher was identified as Evan King (dob 07/24/1973). King is a teacher and assistant track coach at Lincoln Middle School. He has been a teacher with PSD for approximately 9 years.

PSD placed King on administrative leave immediately after receiving the initial allegation and the School District has been cooperative throughout the investigation. The four-month investigation into the allegations, led by Detectives with the FCPS Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPU), identified two female juvenile victims and multiple student witnesses. Yesterday, King was arrested and charged with:

· Class 3 Felony - Sexual Assault on a child by one in position of trust (3 Counts)

· Class 3 Felony - Sexual Assault on a child by one in position of trust - Pattern of sexual abuse (1 Count)

“Parents expect that the wellbeing of their child is held in highest regard by those appointed to positions of trust. This is an intolerable abuse of his responsibility as an educator and we are saddened by the prospect there may be more victims,” said FCPS Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky, who oversees the Criminal Investigations Division, which includes CAPU. “Our detectives and Victim Services Unit are working to ensure these students receive the support they need during this difficult and emotional time. Now that King has been arrested, we hope any additional victims feel safe to report to us.”

Detectives are concerned there may be more victims or witnesses of criminal behavior similar to inappropriate touching or comments made by King. Anyone who believes they are a victim or have additional information related to this type of behavior please contact Detective Justin Butler at 970.221.6340 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970.221.6868.

Charges are merely an accusation by law enforcement and all suspects must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Due to this case involving juvenile victims, statutory protections do not allow us to share any additional information about this investigation.
