FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The City of Fort Collins is reviewing its Noise Ordinance and wants to hear from residents through a new survey called Sound in the City. The survey aims to understand how noise impacts daily life in Fort Collins and what updates may be needed to better reflect community values, expectations, and experiences.

The City’s Noise Ordinance outlines quiet hours and sound limits by zoning district, with allowances for certain activities like lawn care, construction and public events. As the city continues to grow and evolve, input from residents is essential to ensure that the ordinance continues to balance vibrancy with livability.

“Sound in the City is about listening—to our environment and to each other,” City of Fort Collins Planning, Development and Transportation Deputy Director Lori Schwarz said. “We encourage all residents to take a few minutes to share their thoughts so we can make informed, community-driven decisions about how noise is managed across Fort Collins.”

The survey is quick and easy to complete and includes a Spanish option. Learn more and participate at fcgov.com/SoundInTheCity.
