Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash
On April 7, 2025, at approximately 7:01 pm, Fort Collins Police were notified of a serious crash between a motorcycle and vehicle at the intersection of South Timberline Road and Bighorn Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult male who was riding the motorcycle and had life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Due to the severity of the collision, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to take over the investigation. The investigation to this point has revealed that a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, driven by an adult female, was traveling northbound on S. Timberline Road and making a left turn to go westbound on Bighorn Drive. The motorcyclist was riding a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle and traveling southbound on S. Timberline Drive. As the Hyundai was making the turn, the collision occurred.
“As the weather continues to get warmer, we urge the community to be cognizant of an increase in motorcycles on our roadways. We ask that all roadway users, motorcycles and vehicles alike, adhere to traffic laws and speed limits. Engaging in roadway safety is a shared responsibility we all must uphold,” said Sergeant David Lindsay who oversees the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team.
S. Timberline Road was closed both directions in between Horsetooth Road and Caribou Drive for approximately 5 1/2 hours while investigators processed the scene.
Police are still actively investigating what factors led up to the collision. Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Community Service Officer Jacob Haas at (970) 221 6540.
