Notes
Flora of North America recognizes three varieties of R. aureum, all native to the U.S. Varieties aureum and villosum are native to Colorado and most of the U.S. Variety villosum is found primarily in the central and eastern states, while aureum is found mostly in the western half of the U.S. Variety gracillimum is native to only California.
Plants in the genus Ribes are important larval and adult food hosts for many of our native invertebrates.
Fall foliage is orange to red.
