Notes
Flora of North America recognizes three varieties of J. communis, all native to North America. Variety megistocarpa is native to Quebec, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. Variety montana is found along the west coast of North America and our native, variety depressa, is found throughout North America, except in the south-central area and Texas.
Many cultivars so make sure to pay attention to specific size, shape and habit.
