Court Closures#

On rare occasions, it is necessary for the Fort Collins Municipal Court to close its facility due to unforeseen circumstances. These closures are typically due to inclement weather or loss of essential utilities such as water, electricity, and/or heating and ventilation. These closures may be related to closure decisions made for the entire City organization. When it is necessary to close the Court on short notice for such reasons, rescheduling hearings and other meetings cannot be accommodated in advance.

The following procedures related to Court closures and rescheduling hearings is effective immediately.

Closure Procedures#

When possible, as soon as a court closure becomes necessary the Chief Judge, Court Administrator, or designee shall post notice of the closure on the North, and East doors of the City Administrative Building in which the Court is located at 215 N. Mason St. When possible, notice shall also be added to the City's web site and to the informational recording available on the Court's telephone system.

That notice shall state that the Court is closed, the reason therefore, that the Court will reopen as soon as a safe and secure environment has been restored, and shall include information related to rescheduling hearings or meetings as outlined below.
