Attending CSU Football Games Just Got EasierThe City of Fort Collins will change the timing of traffic lights along Drake and Prospect Roads to improve the east-west flow of traffic to and from Hughes Stadium during CSU home football games. Prospect, between Shields and Taft, has been closed but will have a minimum of three lanes open for this Saturday’s game against Sacramento. For the remaining 2008 home games, Prospect Road will be fully open. Traffic timing changes will take effect three hours prior to kickoff to improve traffic flow to the stadium. The outbound traffic plan will go into effect 30 minutes before the end of game. The changes are designed to optimize traffic flow along two main routes:
For CSU’s home opener against Sacramento State on Saturday, Sep. 6, traffic timing changes will start at 10:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. They will go back into effect at approximately 4:30 p.m. and end at 6 p.m. The adjustments will noticeably improve east/west travel times along both the Drake and Prospect routes, which may affect traffic flow on north/south roads, specifically at the Taft, Shields, College and LeMay intersections. Adjusted traffic planning is one more way the City of Fort Collins is supporting Game Day Fort Collins, a community-wide project designed to build community spirit and pride. Game Day promotes attendance to CSU football games, and it also encourages fans to support the local community and economy by taking the family to lunch before kickoff, meeting friends downtown after the game, or attending one of the many upcoming Game Day Community Events.
