CORRECTION: This press release has been updated to reflect a new closure date of the Power Trail.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The City of Fort Collins has begun construction on the Siphon Overpass project, connecting the existing Power Trail with the newly opened Mail Creek Trail and providing a safe connection for Southeast Fort Collins to the rest of the city’s trail network. The project’s construction requires a closure of the Power Trail in the project area, while crews reconfigure the trail and construct a pedestrian overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad.
The Power Trail will close from Keenland Drive to the intersection of Southridge Greens Boulevard and East Trilby Road beginning Friday, Feb. 28. Detour routes will be clearly marked to help trail users navigate around the construction zone.
“The Siphon Overpass is a key improvement for our trail network, providing a safer, more accessible connection for all users,” City of Fort Collins Project Manager Jin Wang said. “We appreciate the community’s patience during construction and look forward to delivering an overpass that will benefit Fort Collins for years to come.”
The Siphon Overpass project aligns with the City’s commitment to enhancing active transportation infrastructure, improving safety and promoting sustainable mobility options. The project should be completed in August 2025.
