Funding Available for Housing & Human Services#
Each year, the City of Fort Collins allocates funding through a competitive process for housing and human service projects and agencies. Funds are distributed in the spring and are available for public services, community development activities and affordable housing projects.
What Funding Is Available?#
Fort Collins has four sources of funding:
1. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
Purpose: Improve the physical, economic, and social conditions for low income people. Projects must meet at least one of three national objectives; principally benefit low and moderate income persons, aid in the elimination of slums or blight, and/or meet an urgent or unanticipated community need.

Eligible Uses: Acquisition of real property, disposition of real property, demolition, public facilities and improvements, public services, relocation expenses, site improvements, housing rehabilitation, economic development, homeownership assistance
2. HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)
Purpose: Increase the supply of safe and sanitary housing affordable to low income people.

Eligible Uses: Acquisition of real property, soft costs associated with housing development, relocation expenses, site improvements, housing construction, housing rehabilitation, housing reconstruction, code enforcement, homeownership assistance
3. Affordable Housing Fund (AHF)
Purpose: Increase the supply of housing affordable to low income people

Eligible Uses: Acquisition of real property, soft costs associated with housing development, relocation expenses, site improvements, housing construction, housing rehabilitation, homeownership assistance
4. Human Services Program (HSP)
Purpose: Provide social services to low income people.
