Municipal Sustainability#

As part of its aspirational Climate Action Plan goals, the City of Fort Collins is committed to sustainability within the municipal organization that reduces carbon emissions while providing world-class services to the community and a culture of resiliency and sustainability through organization-wide systems and processes. The City Fort Collins continues to demonstrate leadership in its own municipal GHG reduction with emissions down 11.5% below 2005 in 2014 while the community's emissions during that time period declined 2.6%.

Leading by Example#

To illustrate the City’s leadership in reducing municipal greenhouse gas emissions, the City organization will regularly create case studies about its efforts in renewable energy, energy efficiency and many other areas related to climate action.

Municipal Reports#

Each year, the City publishes an a report about its overall internal sustainability efforts, measures that matter and game-changing projects.

Climate Action Plan#

The City Council has adopted goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent below 2005 levels by 2020 and 80 percent by 2030 with the goal of being carbon neutral by 2050. Stay on top of the Climate Action Plan at www.fcgov.com/climateaction.
