Election Calendar for Candidates#

2025 Candidate Calendar  
Upon Candidacy Candidate Affidavit is due within ten (10) days of becoming a candidate.  A Committee Registration is also needed before accepting contributions or making expenditures.
April 2 Council Information Session for those interested in running for Council - 6:00 p.m., City Council Chambers
April 7

Candidate or Committee Question & Answer Drop In at 4:00 p.m. at the City Clerk's Office.  These are scheduled for the 1st Monday of every month.  

Subsequent drop in dates:

  • May 5
  • June 2
  • July 7
  • August 4
  • September 8 (moved due to Labor Day)
  • October 6
  • November 3
May 1

First Campaign Report due for any committees that are accepting contributions or making expenditures.  Reports will be posted online shortly after receipt.  

Subsequent reports will be due on:

  • July 1 (Quarterly until the the report due 63 days prior to election)
  • September 2 (63 days prior to election)
  • September 30 (35 days prior to election)
  • October 14 (21 days prior to election)
  • October 21 (14 days prior to election)
  • October 31 (by noon the Friday prior to election)
  • December 2 (28 days after election)
  • January 13 (70 days after election)
  • November 1 (annual reports for committees still open)
August 5-26 Circulation of nomination petition
August 26

Deadline to file nomination petitions - by 5:00 p.m.

*Financial Disclosure Statement is due at the same time nomination petition is filed

September 2

Deadline to withdraw from candidacy

September 15

Council Candidate Orientation Session - 5:30 p.m., Council Chambers.

October 13-17 Ballots mailed to voters
November 4 Election Day
November 14

Last day for Larimer County to tabulate all in-person and accepted mail ballots (including overseas ballots and those where signature deficiencies were cured) and complete a summary results report

November 26

Deadline for Larimer County to certify the official election results

and

Last day for an interested party to request a recount at their own expense

December 5 Last day for Larimer County to complete a required statutory recount
December 9 Last day for Larimer County to complete a recount requested by an interested party
January 13 Newly elected and re-elected officials take their oaths of office
