Fort Collins Historic Places Database#

This database lists all of the officially designated places (buildings, sites, objects, etc.) in Fort Collins. You can find out if a property has an historic designation in several ways. The best is to contact us at the information on the right for up-to-the-minute information. Another reliable way is to search the regularly-updated list below which includes all designated properties (local, state, and federal), all of which are subject to some form of exterior project review under Chapter 14 of the Fort Collins Municipal Code.

What is an historic resource? #

An historic resource is any resource (a building, structure, object, or site) that has importance to the past for association with important historic events or trends, important people, important architectural trends, or its ability to yield important information about the way people use to live. These can be individually recognized, or could be a concentration of historic places known as an "Historic District." Buildings and other resources that help tell the story of an historic district are considered "contributing" to that district and are integral pieces of the larger historic story.
