Police Investigate Serious Collision

Released on Saturday, June 1, 2024

On May 31, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) responded to a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck on E. Prospect Rd. The investigation so far has indicated that the motorcycle was traveling east bound on Prospect Rd. The pickup truck was traveling west bound and initiated a turn onto south bound Peterson. Police are investigating if the speed of the motorcycle contributed to the collision.

The operator of the motorcycle, a nineteen-year-old male, had serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. No injuries were reported by other involved parties.

Due to the nature of the incident, the FCPS Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) team responded to investigate. The roadway was closed in the 200 block of E. Prospect Rd. for approximately three hours while officers processed the scene.

“We ask that all vehicle operators follow posted speed limits when driving. Speed regulations are put in place to safeguard all road users,” said Cpl. Hasebroock of the FCPS Traffic Unit.

Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Officer Phil Morris at 970-221-6540. This is an active investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
