Ride-Along Program#
For the last thirty-five years, Fort Collins Police Services has offered community members the opportunity to ride with patrol officers and observe first-hand the typical duties police officers encounter. During the ride-along, the officer and community members are able to speak candidly about the nature of police work and how it has evolved in Fort Collins.
To participate in the Ride-Along program, community members are required to complete an application and liability waiver form and must successfully complete a background check. Riders may request a specific day of the week and shift that works in their schedule, but it may not always be possible to accomodate those requests based on staffing or special events. Every effort will be made to accommodate special requests; however special requests may result in a delay in scheduling the ride-along. Once accepted in the program, the Patrol Administrative Assistants will contact the community member to arrange the ride-along date and time.
Due to the popularity of the program, participants are limited to two rides per calendar year. Applicants under the age of eighteen must obtain written permission from their parent/guardian to participate.
