Building Efficiency, Sustainability, Food Trucks and Fun – July 15

Posted on: Jul-07-2023

Community members are invited to Building Forward, an event focusing on building efficiency, electrification and sustainability. The event is Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Fort Collins Utilities, 222 Laporte Ave.

Whether you are a building professional, homeowner, or simply curious about electrification and reducing carbon emissions, Building Forward is an incredible opportunity to learn from the experts! Enjoy interactive booths, family-friendly activities, presentations and local food trucks. Mayor Jeni Arndt and Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas will be making appearances as we celebrate high-performance building in our community.

Building Forward is hosting one of three Colorado Ice Box Challenges. These installations are currently behind 222 Laporte Ave. One ice box is built to the local building requirements while the other is built to the international Passive House Standard for highly efficient buildings. Each house started with 2,000 pounds of ice, and the amount of ice remaining after two weeks will be revealed on July 15 at Building Forward.

    Did You Know?

Fort Collins Utilities is committed to providing ‘round-the-clock, world-class service to our community. We operate 24/7/365.

When warm enough, you can save ~50 cents/load by hanging your laundry on a clothesline. Clotheslines are allowed everywhere in Fort Collins.

When it rains, pollutants go down storm drains, contaminating our water bodies. Small leaks and drips add up. Don’t drip and drive.
