Water Treatment Facility Energy Generation#
Solar Power#
The Water Treatment Facility has a photovoltaic generation system on-site that produces approximately 100 kilowatts to help offset utility electric power needed to run the plant. Power from the solar field meets about 4% of the facility’s power needs.
Micro-Hydro Generation#
The facility also has a 75-kilowatt micro-hydroelectric generator, which generates power using the incoming water pressure from Horsetooth Reservoir. The micro-hydro unit meets about 20% of the facility’s power needs.
