The Grove#

The Grove is a multi-family development located along Rolland Moore Drive in the Shields-Prospect neighborhood.

During development of this property, the City partnered with the developer to install rain gardens in the parkway strip between the curb and the sidewalk. The rain gardens were constructed in 2013 and represent one of the first instances of Low Impact Development in the public right of way.

The gardens are extremely beneficial and serve to:

  • irrigate the landscaping in the parkway strip
  • serve as a water quality treatment system for street runoff
  • add to the aesthetic feel and quality of the neighborhood
  • reduce the need for irrigation in the landscaped areas

These schematics show the design cross section for the rain gardens.
